Your Role
- Managing the design process from concept to preliminary to detailed design to installation at a new build station of Process and Mechanical Systems including definition of system functional and performance requirements and environmental and seismic qualification.
- Manage a team of Mechanical, Process, Designers and Engineering Professionals (Engineers, Stress Analysts. Technical Specialist, Designers and/or Technologists/Technicians).
- Experience managing engineering work with interfacing requirements involving other engineering teams (Civil, Mechanical, Human Factors, Procurement, Quality etc.)
- Planning and executing work consistent with quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Coordinating and oversight of design activities related to the completion of fundamental design for a nuclear power plant.
- Participating and leading in the preparation of commercial proposals, engineering proposals and approving the technical content of proposals prepared under their direction.
- Ensuring that work is conducted in accordance with applicable Engineering and Quality Assurance procedures, and in accordance with the contract, applicable specifications, and technical requirements.
- Interfacing with stakeholders, including Engineering peers, Modelling, Procurement, Construction representatives, and prospective equipment and/or system vendors, to ensure system designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements, and that the resulting designs are constructable, operable, and maintainable.
- Ensuring department deliverables are produced in accordance with budget, schedule, quality, and technical requirements.
- Removing barriers that could impact safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance.
- Forecasting resource demands for the assigned work scope, including required skills, capabilities, and durations.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the major disciplines such as Mechanical Engineering or Chemical
Engineering, or related field from an accredited University. - Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario with good standing.
- 10+ years’ experience supporting various types of projects including engineering services, refurbishments, and/or new build construction projects. 5+ years’ experience leading teams is required. Experience on a new build project is an asset (e.g. nuclear, combined cycle, un- conventional nuclear).
- Experience managing engineering work with interfacing requirements involving other engineering teams (Process / Systems, Mechanical, Physics, Safety, Licensing, Civil / Structural, Electrical, Human Factors,), Procurement, Quality Assurance, Contracts, and Construction including prospective equipment and/or system vendors, to ensure system designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements, and that the resulting designs are constructable, operable, and maintainable.
- Experience working within a Quality Management System (CSA N286), and quality standards (CSA N299) and other applicable standards and nuclear regulatory guides.
- Working knowledge of/experience with the CSA, IEC, IEEE, and suites of standards pertaining to Electrical, Instrumentation and Control Engineering and other applicable standards and nuclear regulatory guides.
- Experience and capability in regulatory communications in a regulated industry is an asset.
- Experience working in a nuclear facility licensed in Canada is an asset.
- Will need to travel to and potentially work at sites to meet business needs, inclusive of project (construction) site and equipment / component suppliers
- Eligible to obtain Security Clearance with Public Services and Procurement Canada.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$155,000 and CA$194,000
