Job Title: Structural Engineer

Location: Burnaby, BC (Hybrid)

Estimated Duration: 12 Months

Our client is a leading energy utility that generates, purchases, distributes and sells electricity. They are presently looking for a   Structural Engineer for their Burnaby, BC location.

Overview:

Structural engineer familiar with hydroelectric infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Structural assessment, design, rehabilitation, and construction activity support.
  • Design of reinforced concrete, structural steel, and timber structures, with a strong working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and engineering practices.
  • Serve as Professional of Record (PoR), assess field conditions and develop practical engineering solutions to support project delivery.
  • Construction staging, temporary works, excavation support systems, and constructability reviews.
  • Structural analysis software such as S-Frame, SAP2000, STAAD, and common industry software.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years of structural engineering experience in Canada.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural Engineering by recognized universities in Canada.
  • Registered P.Eng. (Civil/Structural) in good standing with EGBC.
  • Prior to commencement on assignment, the selected candidate must have their own sole practitioner, or the use of their firm’s, Permit to Practice with EGBC.
  •  Demonstrated experience in structural assessment, design, rehabilitation, and construction activity support.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the design of reinforced concrete, structural steel, and timber structures, with a strong working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and engineering practices.
  • Thorough working knowledge of common industry construction practices in British Columbia.
  • Thorough understanding of safety in the field / thorough understanding of environmental effects and impacts of existing conditions, construction activities, and permanent installations
  • Familiar with codes and design requirements of Authorities Having Jurisdiction and the permitting process.

 

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between ¤75.00 and ¤93.00
