Job Title: Senior Rock Mechanics Engineer
Location: Ottawa, Vaughan or Toronto
Estimated Duration: Fulltime
We are currently seeking a Senior Rock Mechanics Engineer (A Specialist in Rock Mechanics) to join the Geotechnical Practice providing technical and operational leadership, having superior client relations skills and a proven ability to deliver major assignments.

The ideal candidate:
- The successful applicant will be a Senior Geotechnical Engineer specializing in Rock Mechanics with a proven technical and project management track record. The role will include the execution of complex and major programs, supporting complex proposals, mentoring of junior staff, as well as act as technical reference, and therefore good communication skills are essential.
- The candidate will have a degree in civil engineering or geology with a post graduate qualification in a geotechnical subject and have a minimum of 15 years’ pertinent experience.
- Candidates should have the right flare and ability that will help us develop and expand our infrastructure geotechnics capability by building on the existing portfolio of our rapidly expanding, flexible and outward looking team that can tackle work across a broad spectrum of sectors.
Candidates should have:
- Extensive experience in one or more of the following sectors: highways, rail, municipal, industrial, commercial or residential geotechnics.
- A focused expertise on rock mechanics and rock engineering projects dealing with rock face stability, tunneling and underground excavations in rock, foundations, and rockfall hazards.
- Proven experience in rock mass characterization and assessment of geological and/or geotechnical conditions.
- A strong academic background with a relevant degree (ideally Bachelors, Masters or higher).
- Professional Engineering License (P.Eng) in Ontario.
- Proven experience of acting in a senior role in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment.
- Project management – experience and understanding of the needs and approaches to the engineering consultancy and design markets, including relationships with clients, and work planning.
- Proven rock mechanics design experience.
- Application of Design Standards and Guidelines in a design and ground investigation environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and technical skills and the ability to support the development of teams.
- A willingness to travel on short assignments both within Ontario and nationwide.
- A valid driving license.
