Job Title: Senior Principal Geotechnical Engineer
Location: Ottawa, Vaughan or Toronto
Estimated Duration: Fulltime
Our geotechnical engineers work closely with other professional’s multiple sectors such as transportation, rail & transit, energy, cities and developments as well as industrial. You will participate on multi-disciplinary teams and projects and will be expected to collaborate on multidisciplinary projects of all scales.
We are currently seeking a Senior / Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join the Geotechnical Practice in Ontario, providing technical and operational leadership, having superior client relations skills and a proven ability to deliver major assignments.
The ideal candidate:
- The successful applicant will be a Senior Engineering Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer with a proven technical and project management track record and a particular focus on the Transportation sector in Ontario. The role will include the execution of complex and major programs, supporting complex proposals, mentoring of junior staff, as well as act as technical reference, and therefore good communication skills are essential.
- The candidate will have a degree in civil engineering or geology with a post graduate qualification in a geotechnical subject and have a minimum of 15 years’ pertinent experience.
- Candidates should have the right flare and ability that will help us develop and expand our infrastructure geotechnics capability by building on the existing portfolio of our rapidly expanding, flexible and outward looking team that can tackle work across a broad spectrum of sectors.
Candidates should have:
- Extensive experience in highways, rail, municipal roads and bridges.
- Proven experience with the Ministry of Transportation Ontario is considered is strong asset.
- A strong academic background with a relevant degree (ideally MSc or equivalent).
- Professional Engineering Licence (P.Eng) in Ontario.
- Proven experience of acting in a senior role in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment.
- Project management – experience and understanding of the needs and approaches to the engineering consultancy and design markets, including relationships with clients, and work planning.
- Proven geotechnical design experience.
- Application of Design Standards and Guidelines in a design and ground investigation environment.
- Proven geohazards and geotechnical investigation experience.
- Experienced in general geotechnical numerical software.
- Excellent interpersonal and technical skills and the ability to support the development of teams.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients.
- Excellent report writing skills with the ability to peer-review and produce quality deliverables.
- A willingness to travel on short assignments both within Ontario and nationwide.
