Job Title: Senior Mechanical Designer

Location: Clarington, ON (Onsite)

Estimated Duration: 6 Months

Job Duties:
 
Typical duties and essential functions will include but not be limited to the preparation, design, modification, coordination, and/or review of the following:
 

  • Provide piping/mechanical design support for Engineering Change (EC) design packages
  • Prepare electronic documents in AutoCAD; Sketching, three-dimensional computer modeling, drawings and construction documents..
  • Apply relevant Codes & Standards and regulatory requirements and coordinate with design team to ensure the compliances.
  • Interface with Engineering teams, throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements.
  • Coordinate 3D models between disciplines and construction teams to ensure seamless integration and minimize clashes.
  • Revise existing drawings/3D models (relative to the discipline) from fairly detailed verbal or written instructions, and/or marked up drawings.
  • Implement field change requests by updating models, drawings, and BOMs to reflect construction modifications.
  • Develop mechanical equipment and piping layout designs, ensuring safe, accessible, and maintainable configurations.
  • Assist in developing designs and technical specifications for systems such as Heating, Air conditioning, Ventilation, boilers, plumbing, chilled water, building controls, along with other related systems.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • College diploma or equivalent work experience with a minimum of 10 years in mechanical design and drafting.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Plant 3D is a must.
  • Working knowledge in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Raster Design, Smart Plant 3D/Smart, Micro Station, Navisworks Manage and SolidWorks
  • Ability to take marked up engineering drawings and incorporates changes into AutoCAD files.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff in a team environment as well as independently.
  • ASME Code knowledge considered an asset
  • Proficient in equipment and piping modeling, Ability to interpret Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) for accurate design implementation.
  • Experience providing field support through site visits and inspections, ensuring adherence to design intent and quality requirements.

 

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$50.00 and CA$70.00
