Senior Civil Structural Construction Consultant
Mississauga (Onsite or Remote) 
Contract (12-months) 

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Ensure a good working knowledge of the design package with a goal and ability to support 90% of construction questions & issues, while understanding good communication with the design engineers is paramount to successful project completion
  • Prepare/Review/Approval of Construction Work Packages (CWP)
  • Ensure the field approved design changes meet all applicable codes, Client standards, design analysis, and good construction practices.
  • Ensure the field approved, non-intent design changes are timely communicated to the design engineers for configuration management purposes.
  • Ensure field approved, non-intent design changes do not interfere with CLIENT operational requirements.
  • Ensure any scope and design intent changes are adequately reviewed and approved by design engineers if appropriate.
  • Ensure the Construction Planners and Foremen are adequately utilizing the construction specifications (Installation Specifications/requirements) to avert unnecessary document expenses and identifying methods to utilize them.
  • Work closely with the Construction Planners/Superintendents/Foremen to clarify engineering requirements and approve any design changes
  • Participate in Field Walkdowns for Constructability reviews
  • Design/Construction approaches, e.g. field routing vs model
  • Construction planning/Construction Execution Plan
  • Responsibility for tools, equipment, systems (e.g. scaffolding, forming, etc.) methodologies and approaches

 

Experience – Knowledge/Skills/Project Exposure

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario; in good standing:
  • Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university/college;
  • At least 8 years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures, in Nuclear Power Plants and/or industrial buildings;
  • Deep and thorough understanding of structural engineering gained through a combination of design-office and site experience;
  • A working understanding of CLIENT’s construction specifications is an asset.
  • 3 to 5 years of site or field experience in CANDU Nuclear Power Plants
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian and International Codes and standards used in Civil/Structural engineering;
  • Thorough knowledge in Analysis software commonly used in Civil/Structural engineering
  • Must have experience with dynamic and seismic analysis of structures and foundations;
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft office and Mathcad;
  • In-depth knowledge of Nuclear QA procedures and practices;
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable Nuclear  safety codes and regulations is an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with clients and staff in a team environment;
  • Must be willing to work in multiple tasks/projects;
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective organizational skills;
  • Must have excellent problem solving skills and analytical aptitude;
  • Must have good skills in time management;
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills;
  • Eligible for Security Clearance through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC);
  • Valid orange badge qualification is an asset;

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$70.00 and CA$100.00
