Job Title: Project Engineer /Manager

Location: Vancouver, BC

Estimated Duration: Fulltime

Our client is a leading provider of consulting, engineering, and technical services worldwide and strives to provide smart solutions for challenging projects. They are a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and technologists.  They execute projects ranging from small to large for clients across Canada and internationally. The types of clients they work for include Mining and Mineral Processing, Heavy Industrial Facilities, Power Generation and Transmission, Pipelines and Refineries, Municipal & Utilities Water treatment.
They are currently looking for a  Project Engineer for their Vancouver office.
Responsibilities:

  •  Develop or coordinate project deliverables including cost estimates, decision summaries, risk analyses, conceptual plans, preliminary and detailed design work.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
  • Project cost and budget control, including change management. Preparation of project status reports to clients by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Track project performance and analyze deliverables against requirements to identify areas of improvement.
  • Facilitate regular technical and client update meetings, and interface daily with clients to interpret their needs and requirements. Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.
  • Coordinate with multidiscipline teams in the development of Engineering and Construction Work Packages, including establishing and managing deliverable dates and coordination of construction support activities.
  • Establish and oversee project procurement requirements and work closely with the procurement department in development of project procurement plans/reports/schedules, issue resolution and vendor management.
  • Coordinate technical teams and deliverables within an integrated project team that consists of other engineering disciplines. Communicate requirements and delegate technical tasks accordingly within the project and technical teams to ensure consistency, accuracy, completeness and quality of deliverables.
  • Develop spend profiles and identify technical resources needed to reach project objectives. Prepare resource loading data and work with corporate to ensure the appropriate resources are available for the project(s). Manage project resources in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Monitoring compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, and specifications.
  • Overseeing junior staff and teams to ensure that work continues on budget and schedule.

Specific Experience, Qualifications,

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Applied Science or equivalent degree, including a diploma as an Engineering Technologist.
  • 10+ years of industrial design engineering experience
  • P.Eng. is an asset
  • Strong understanding of project execution and life cycle within the EPCM realm.
  • Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle with ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget and timeline.
  • Proven experience working independently to organize, plan, coordinate, and manage multiple projects / tasks simultaneously including providing daily field support.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of management, clients, and vendors.
  • Ability to read/interpret engineering drawings and documents.
