Job Title: Project Controls Analyst

Location: Fort McMurray, AB (Onsite)

Estimated Duration: 15 Months

Our client is a Canadian integrated energy company. There operations include oil sands development, production and upgrading; offshore oil and gas; petroleum refining in Canada and the US. They also have a retail energy distribution network

They are currently looking for a Project Controls Analyst for their Fort McMurray location

Overview:
Our client is looking for a Project Controls Analyst who will be responsible for developing, maintaining and continuously improve all aspects of Cost Control, forecasting, change management and reporting for the successful PC service on the project.
Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinates changes in  project controls processes systems  and procedures with increasing complexity.
  • Develop estimates less than $100M independently.
  • Ensues estimates are in line with Business Objectives, Scope, Schedule Class of project, and “Best in Class”
  • Updates and maintains projects schedules for all phases of a project
  • Incorporate resource loading information in all relevant project schedules, including tracking and reporting
  • Assists in audits of engineering and construction progress
  • Facilitates project setup in a proper format to support project closeout and benchmarking
  • Initiated the preparation, consolidation and analysis of project reports, assuming responsibility for its overall accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Compares planned, incurred, actual and forecast hours, costs and ultimately explaining the variances.
  • Assists in the preparation of potential costs and makes judgements regarding impacts
  • Identifies and prepares cost estimates for change orders, trends and extra work orders
  • Facilitates project setup in a proper format that supports project closeout and benchmarking
  • Escalates concerns to leadership identifying changes in execution
  • Analyze change proposals from Contractor and compares with EWP(Engineering Work Package) / CWP(Construction Work Package) Scope of work and quantities
  • Perform multi-step complex level Benchmarking Analytics, utilizing internal data, external databases, external studies and publications
  • Develops a sound basis for data normalization techniques to all Benchmarking reporting
  • Managing commitments, actual costs and allocations.
  • Calculating incurred costs and developing/maintaining the incurred cost forecast (ICF).
  • Performing cost variance, trend analysis and root cause analysis.

Education and Experience:
 

  • A related post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate.
  • Excellent computer skills, MS Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), EcoSys, and SAP.
  • 5 to 7  years of Project Controls experience in the oil and gas sector.
  • AACEI certification preferred
  • Certified Cost Professional preferred

Skills and Knowledge:
 

  • Apply a working knowledge of key project controls concepts, functions, processes, principles, standards, and policies.
  • Solid understanding of planning processes
  • Solid understanding of Progress & Performance
  • Demonstrated experience with complex calculations with a proficient skill in synthesizing benchmarking analytics

Good interpersonal, analytical, organizational & communication

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between ¤6.00 and ¤80.00
