Job Title: OPEX Leader

Location: Pickering or Kincardine, ON (Hybrid)

Estimated Duration: 12 months

Operational Excellence Leader Opportunity:
As an Operational Excellence Leader, you will be part of the proven team in the Quality and Performance Business Line in the Installed Base Business Unit. Your work will include:

  • Under moderate supervision this position is responsible for assisting management in the development of a vision to systematically improve business operations on an on-going basis.
  • Responsible for developing a continuous improvement culture using Lean tools in a pragmatic manner to implement timely, value-added change within the business.
  • Provide leadership in driving culture changes needed to build support & participation in operational improvement initiatives.
  • Drive to increase visibility of operational waste and ineffectiveness with an objective of chartering and implementing actions to address these issues.

Major Duties:

  • Conduct Training
  • Quality & Continuous Improvement (A3 Problem Solving, Manager in Field, 8D Event Resolution, Visual Management)
  • FMEA facilitation
  • Workshop Mode (VSM, 5S, Process Mapping, etc.)
  • Facilitate / Coach
    • Here & Now Meetings, A3 Projects, FMEA (and other Quality Tools), Voice of the Customer, 8D Event Resolution, Visual Management Meetings
    • Support Operating Unit Implementation Initiatives
    • Master Plan (annual objective) Development and Maintenance
    • Digital Transformation (Process Mapping and associated A3s for Digital T.)
    • Reporting
    • VoC (based on Net Promoter Score), Excel in Quality, FMEA, A3 Progress, Master Plan
    • Interface with Global OPEX Network

    Education – Bachelor's Degree or experience in lieu of, plus 6 years of relevant experience.  Experience in the nuclear industry is considered an asset.

    Skills and Knowledge

    • Strong working knowledge of PC-based applications (Windows, Minitab, Excel, PowerPoint & simulation software)
    • Strong problem identification and resolution skills with emphasis on “root cause” analysis
    • Strong written and verbal communications including report development and presentation and facilitation skills
    • Proficient technical competency in Lean Six Sigma skills: DMAIC, DFSS, Lean, Kaizen/Work-out, process management, change management and advanced statistical technique
    • Aptitude to lead others; experience coaching and delivering training at all levels of the organization
    • Knowledge and experience utilizing LEAN problem-solving tools (A3, 8D, Process Mapping)
    • Knowledge and experience utilizing LEAN methods (5S, FMEA)
    • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management
    • Ability to change priorities quickly, lead independently, and work well as part of a team
    • Ability to lead change with a servant leadership approach
