Overview

A leading multidisciplinary engineering and professional services organization is seeking a National Lead for Bus Transit Engineering to drive the strategic direction, growth, and technical excellence of its bus transit capability across Canada.

This senior leadership role combines practice leadership, business development, client engagement, and technical governance. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping national strategy, unlocking market opportunities, building high-performing teams, and delivering exceptional value to public- and private-sector clients.


The Role

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the national vision, strategy, and roadmap for bus transit engineering in alignment with market trends and organizational objectives.

  • Practice Development: Build, lead, and grow a high-performing, multidisciplinary team, fostering collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.

  • Client Engagement: Establish and maintain trusted relationships with public agencies, municipalities, and private-sector partners, acting as a senior advisor and thought leader.

  • Project Oversight: Provide executive-level oversight on major bus transit programs, supporting excellence across planning, design, construction, and system integration phases.

  • Technical Governance: Ensure compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and best practices across all bus transit engineering work.

  • Business Development: Support proposal development, pursuit strategies, and growth initiatives across the national transit market.

  • Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Work closely with civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and systems teams to enable integrated and efficient project delivery.

  • Risk & Performance Management: Oversee risk mitigation, performance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives across the practice.


About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil, automotive engineering, or a related discipline.

  • 15+ years of experience in transit infrastructure, with a strong focus on bus transit systems.

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation is an asset.

  • PMP or equivalent project management certification is an asset.

  • Deep understanding of the Canadian bus transit market, including public-sector procurement and delivery models.

  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated success in client-facing leadership roles.

  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects.

  • Broad technical understanding of bus transit systems, including civil, mechanical, electrical, and operations & maintenance considerations.

  • Familiarity with Canadian transit regulations, standards, and guidelines.

  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to align engineering initiatives to organizational objectives.

  • Bilingual capability is considered an asset.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$220,000 and CA$260,000
