Job Title: Mechanical Project Engineer
Location: Burnaby, BC (Hybrid)
Estimated Duration: 24 Months
Our client is a leading energy utility that generates, purchases, distributes and sells electricity. They are currently looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer for their Burnaby location.
Overview:
This position is needed to help with an increasing workload in capital projects, OMA work programs and Owners Engineer review work.
Responsibilities:
- Experience drafting for generation station Mechanical systems.
- Support the creation and revision of engineering drawings associated with Mechanical engineering works for client’s Station Mechanical System projects.
- Use a variety of computer-aided drafting, modeling and parametric design applications to depict work in two and three dimensions and manage drawings using a computerized drawing records management system.
- Use drawings for site preparations and layouts, facility construction, and electrical infrastructure design and installation including details of equipment, assemblies, and components.
- Create customized drawings for non-standard engineering and design projects.
Experience:
- A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a relevant mechanical engineering field or equivalent.
- Mechanical Engineering Degree
- P.Eng
- Expertise in hydro power turbines, generator and/or governor systems.
- Experience with power generation mechanical systems that may include;
- hydraulic turbines and generators (Pelton, Francis, Kaplan)
- governor systems
- gates – intake, draft tube, maintenance
- penstock inlet valves and turbine inlet valves
- Ability to travel across the Province for short and long term assignments
- Ability to find engineering solutions that add value and to reach consensus
- Ability to communicate efficiently including verbal and technical writing in the English language, analytical, interpersonal communications and presentation skills
- Experience in project management including estimating, cost control and project administration;
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects and to plan and manage project resources
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$83.00 and CA$103.00
