Job Title: Maintenance And Reliability Engineer

Our client is a leading energy utility that generates, purchases, distributes and sells electricity. They are currently looking for a Maintenance & Reliability Engineer for their Burnaby location, for a 6 month assignment
Overview:
Our client is looking for an Maintenance & Reliability Engineer to support the development of the asset maintenance, operations and management strategies for the implementation of new assets at several facilities located in remote communities primarily in Northern and North Coastal British Columbia
Responsibilities:
- Develop asset management plans relating to short and long term maintenance and replacement of equipment
- Develop spares strategy requiring collaboration with OEMs, SFO & Maintenance Engineering for individual station and program level
- Develop category IDs for key equipment
- Develop procurement strategy for the replacement of specialized equipment (outside of warranty period)
- Work with SAP teams for creation of new asset categories and hierarchies
- Develop new maintenance standards, procedures & instructions referencing OEM literature
- Develop Field Inspection and Test Plans
- Develop any safe work procedures required to conduct maintenance and operational tasks
- Providing support in assuring equipment meets SPR/WPP requirements applicable for NIA (Non-Integrated Assets)stations
Experience:
- University graduate in applied science or engineering
- Registered Engineer-in-Training or Geoscientist-in-Training with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or another jurisdiction and/or eligible for registration as such with Engineers & Geoscientists BC
- Must have minimum eight (8) years of engineering experience working in the equipment maintenance and/or commissioning field, or equivalent.
- Experience with operation, maintenance, and remediation of failures of equipment and systems in the power utility industry, oil and gas industry, or heavy industrial environment
- Experience developing preventive maintenance programs and/or developing/performing commissioning plans for a variety of electrical assets including:
- Batteries/Containers
- Battery Energy Management System
- Power Conversion System (i.e. Inverters)
- MGC/DER Controllers
- 600-25kV Transformers
- Reliability concepts, principles and methods
- Reliability tools and their application to understand system performance (reliability and availability) and major contributors to system uptime
- Tools including Failure Modes/Effect Analysis (FMEA), Reliability Center Maintenance (RCM), Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD) or Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
- Operation, maintenance, and failures of equipment and systems in the power utility industry, oil and gas industry, or heavy industrial environment
- Reading and understanding drawings and manuals to articulate how a system works and how the system can fail and what needs to be done to prevent failures either from a design or an effective maintenance standpoint
- Various types of predictive and condition-based maintenance technologies and their application
- Taking equipment apart and reassembling it
- Demonstrated ability to use Root Cause Analysis (RCA) as a method of problem solving to identify root causes of faults or problems
- Intermediate knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Ability to multi-task when given multiple competing assignments
- Good decision making and conflict resolution skills Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Intermediate English skills for professional environment, written and spoken
