Maintenance Engineer
Our client is a leading energy utility that generates, purchases, distributes and sells electricity. They are currently looking for a Maintenance Engineer for their Burnaby location.
Overview:
Our client is looking for a Maintenance Engineer who will provide operational, administrative, and coordination support for the execution and management of the in-year maintenance program within a complex utility environment. The role will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders including Planning, Scheduling, Asset Information Services (AIS), Station Field Operations (SFO), Maintenance Engineering, and Program and Contract Management (PCM) teams to support maintenance execution, SAP governance, reporting, and program administration activities.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinating and processing SAP maintenance-related activities, including SA01 and SA02 work order administration and change requests
- Supporting the execution and monitoring of the annual and in-year maintenance plan
- Assisting with Request for Support (RFS) coordination and tracking activities
- Monitoring maintenance order progression, schedule adherence, and completion status
- Supporting phase control, Final Due Date (FDD), and maintenance compliance tracking activities
- Assisting with maintenance reporting, data validation, and program status updates
- Coordinating with internal stakeholders including SFO, AIS, Maintenance Engineering, Scheduling, and PCM groups
- Supporting standing order administration and fiscal year maintenance tracking activities
- Supporting maintenance planning initiatives, process improvements, and SAP stabilization efforts
- Maintaining records, documentation, and communication related to maintenance execution activities
- Assisting in identifying operational issues, process gaps, and opportunities for continuous improvement
Experience:
- University graduate in applied science or engineering
- Registered Engineer-in-Training or Geoscientist-in-Training with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or another jurisdiction and/or eligible for registration as such with Engineers & Geoscientists BC
- Must have minimum four (4) years of engineering experience working in the equipment maintenance and/or commissioning field, or equivalent.
- Experience with operation, maintenance, and remediation of failures of equipment and systems in the power utility industry, oil and gas industry, or heavy industrial environment
- Experience developing preventive maintenance programs and/or developing/performing commissioning plans for a variety of electrical assets including:
- Compressed air equipment (compressors, filters, dryers, control valves, receivers, etc)
- Water passage gates & valves (hydraulic oil powered, motor actuated)
- Water distribution systems (pumps, filters, strainers, valves, etc)
- Ventilation equipment
- Diesel generators
- Cranes & hoists
- Hydraulic Oil systems
- Reading and understanding drawings and manuals to articulate how a system works and how the system can fail and what needs to be done to prevent failures either from a design or an effective maintenance standpoint
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize when given multiple competing assignments
- Good decision making and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to coordinate with engineering subject matter experts, field personnel, regulatory compliance personnel, etc for the development and implementation of maintenance programs.
- Knowledge of Reliability Center Maintenance (RCM) is desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is desirable but not essential.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$62.00 and CA$76.50
