Job Title: Indigenous Relations Consultant

Location: Vancouver, BC (Remote)

Our client is a leading energy utility that generates, purchases, distributes and sells electricity.
They are currently looking for an Indigenous Relations Consultant for their Lower mainland locations

Overview:

The IR Analyst will provide  lead consultation and engagement with First Nations on client’s capital projects in northeastern BC

Responsibilities:
 

  • Developing project budgets, consultation plans, consultation summaries, and attending project meetings, etc.
  • Communicating with regional First Nations on the projects either via virtual or in-person meetings, including site visits and in community meetings as applicable.
  • Plan and implement the First Nations consultation component of moderate risk, standard capital projects by using technical expertise and advanced knowledge of consultation, engagement, and community relations so that client’s duty to consult and relationship agreement commitments are successfully met.
  • Design, develop, and execute capacity building and engagement initiatives by maintaining open and regular communication, to promote First Nations’ access to internal and external programs and resources.
  • Facilitate First Nations procurement and employment opportunities through project identification, definition, planning, and implementation for the success of
  • Facilitate resolution of conflicts by using innovative approaches to customized engagement protocols to strengthen First Nations relationships.

Qualifications:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Indigenous Studies, Communication, Business, Law, Public Administration or related discipline
  • Advanced English skills for professional environment, written and spoken
  • A minimum five (5) years of directly related work experience or equivalent.
  • Subject matter expertise in First Nation relationship-building, consultation and engagement, including proven experience working with First Nations to advance projects and initiatives.
  • Experience with environmental assessment and preparing provincial and federal regulatory applications and First Nation consultation requirements for capital projects.
