Job Title: HSE Area Lead

They are currently looking for a Health & Safety Area Lead to join their Kamloops team
Overview:
Reporting to the Health and Safety Lead, the HSE Area Lead role will support construction activities with a focus on Health and Safety. Having an oversight into the daily activities being completed by the project contractors in the Greenfield work area.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Supporting the construction activities on a daily basis, providing guidance and support.
- Attend the daily morning and evening production supervisors’ hand over meeting and liaise with them to identify critical works.
- Participate in daily PTW meeting along with the operations and maintenance supervisors for discussion of prioritizing and planning of critical activities for safe execution.
- Actively involve and contribute to the risk assessment for the critical jobs and job safety analysis for ensuring HSE standards are being met.
- Liaise closely with the performing authority when planning work to ensure all the appropriate mechanical/process/electrical hazards and controls have been identified for the task.
- Conduct daily observations and inspections, review of FLHA in the field.
- Review of Permit to Work documents, ensuring compliance during the execution of work activities.
- Attend contractor and safety meeting as required
- Work closely with Operations H&S team members to ensure alignment with activities in the field.
- Ensure all necessary preparation procedures and standing instructions are followed while the equipment is made ready for safe maintenance intervention.
- Audit work permits for correct implementation with regards to the recommended controls for safe working conditions.
- Assist with incident reporting and investigations as required
- Ensure that adequate handovers take place at shift change/crew change of area with regards to the job status and isolation condition.
- Conducting risk assessments and identify control
- Monitoring work to work being executed as per permit conditions
- Maintaining documentation
- Assessing risks
- Ensuring safety compliance for hazardous work
- Auditing “Live” work permits to ensure Control of Work policies are followed
- Coordinating and leading the work of Permit Technicians, Assistant Permit To Work Coordinator
- Monitoring and evaluating assigned workers' performance
- Providing advice, training, and assistance
Experience & Skill Requirements
- Previous experience with mining and/or oil and gas operations
- 5 to 10 years of related Health and Safety experience.
- Experience in a remote construction or operational setting on a rotational basis is preferred.
- Proven experience in Health and Safety or a related role.
- Strong understanding of local, provincial, and federal regulations pertaining to health and safety and licenses.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing regulations.
- Working knowledge of applicable federal and provincial legislation.
- Positive and effective leadership and interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written).
- Resilient and adaptable – able to thrive in a dynamic work environment, managing competing priorities and deadlines, and adjusting activities and approaches as applicable.
- Excellent planning, problem-solving, and coordination skills.
- Team-oriented but individually driven to produce results.
- Manages personal workload to ensure completion of tasks within schedules.
- Demonstrates leadership in health, safety and environmental protection culture and follows company procedures and directions.
- Competent with Microsoft Office and data-management software.
- A valid driver’s license and a driver’s abstract are required.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$52.50 and CA$65.00
