Job Title: Environmental Qualification Analyst

Location: Mississauga, ON (Hybrid)
    
Estimated Duration: 12 Months

Your role within the team:

  • Developing project plans and procedures for an Environmental Qualification Program for a nuclear power plant.
  • Working knowledge of domestic and international regulations and standards related to Environment Qualification of a nuclear facility.
  • Provide design solutions and assessments for environmentally qualifying new, updated and modified plant systems, structures and components.
  • Prepare and /or review design documents for Nuclear Power Plants.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to engineers at lower grade levels and/or other technical employees.
  • Ensure applicable code, standards and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Ensure adherence to company quality program.
  • Support Engineering Management with timely updates on engineering progress.
  • Interface with internal and external stake holders as required.
  • Perform walkdowns, attend site visits and meetings as required.

 

The ideal candidate:

  • Degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering Science or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 6-10 years of experience in Environmental Qualification of a nuclear facility.
  • Experience performing work to nuclear power plants procedures and practices and qualifications for nuclear power plants engineering activities.
  • Experience leading/mentoring teams.
  • Familiarity with Canadian nuclear industry EQ programs that implement following EQ distinct stages:
  • Understanding of safety design philosophy/safety in depth principles.
  • Identification of important to safety systems and their safety functions. Identification of the system’s components implementing these functions and their EQ requirements.
  • Identification of service conditions (operating and ambient) for EQ (normal and AOO, and bounding DBAs).
  • ?Understanding of EQ related characteristics such as accelerated aging, qualified life, replacement period, accident bounding conditions, EQ margins, and assessments of components utilized in severe accident conditions.
  • Working knowledge of/experience using nuclear Codes and Standards, including CSA N290.13 and Environmental Qualification programs related to existing nuclear facilities.
  • Familiarity with the CNSC current regulatory requirements of Section 5.8 of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) Regulatory Document REGDOC-2.5.2) and standards related to the Environment Qualification of equipment for nuclear power plants such as Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standard N290.13:18, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) standard, 60780-323, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) standard, ASME QME-1-2023.
