Job Description
Our client is looking to hire a Design Team Lead. This position requires experienced individuals who are self-starter and are capable of working independently. The individuals will work in a fast-paced team environment performing engineering services for Nuclear Power Plants within a matrix organization. For this specific role, the candidate shall have familiarity and experience with OPG/BP practices, standards and procedures and the work be performed following AtkinsRéalis/Candu Energy QA programs, and applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
- Primary interface with OPG/BP Design Team Lead (DTL).
- Demonstrate strong nuclear safety culture using event free tools and technical conscience principles.
- Look for and evaluate OPEX, and share lessons learned with design team for continuous improvement.
- Drive adherence of multi-discipline design team to the applicable Engineering Change Control (ECC) process.
- Ensure the consistency and quality of engineering design packages across all design team disciplines.
- Act as a Single Point Of Contact (SPOC) for implementation of interface requirements within the design.
- Coordinate/conduct COMS, DCAVR and other meetings with stakeholders (examples: Procurement Engineering), as required.
- Review related Asset Suite Design panels and ensure engineering updates are correct and meet the requirements of client governance.
- Participate in preparation of design plans and methodologies.
- Apply SLN QA procedures consistently.
- Participate in technical reviews of design packages.
- Deliver all technical engineering deliverables/tasks within specified timelines and budgets.
- Oversee vendor delivery to ensure quality product meeting technical requirements.
- Interface with multi-discipline / cross-functional project teams.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Test, Site Acceptance Test, Commissioning and Availability For Service meetings, as required.
- Provide on-site implementation support and ensure field changes are addressed and approved as per applicable procedures.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
- Engineering degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related discipline from an accredited University, with a minimum of 10 years experience in Nuclear Power Plants.
- Registered Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario, member in good standing.
- Working knowledge of the CANDU design and plant system design.
- Detailed understanding of OPG/BP ECC process and governance procedures.
- Working knowledge of client Asset Suite/Maximo with active access rights.
- Shall have excellent communication and technical writing skills and good ability to interact and communicate (both verbal and in writing) professionally with colleagues, clients and contractors.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Experience working in all phases of a project including the conceptual design phase, preliminary engineering, detailed design, construction/installation, commissioning, and closeout
Additional, preferred qualifications:
- Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, with strong customer focus.
- Working knowledge of pressure boundary licensing requirements, and interface with TSSA/ CNSC.
- Adaptable to change and thrives in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
- Already is or is willing to become a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW).
- OPG Design Engineer (DE) Qualification QID#33685.
- Active security clearance for OPG and/or BP is considered an asset
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$70.00 and CA$90.00
