Role Overview
This position oversees the reliability, upkeep, and performance of essential facility systems that support a high-availability technical environment. The focus is on power and cooling infrastructure, ensuring systems are properly maintained, monitored, and continuously improved. The goal is to sustain maximum uptime and operational continuity in a fast-paced, growth-oriented setting.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee operation and condition of core facility equipment such as cooling systems, backup power units, generators, pumps, and related infrastructure

Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules with service providers and internal teams

Maintain strong working relationships with contractors, partners, and internal stakeholders

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency of mechanical systems while protecting reliability targets

Develop, maintain, and enforce operational and maintenance procedures

Review service agreements and recommend appropriate internal vs. external delivery models

Support compliance reviews, inspections, and audit activities

Provide technical input for maintenance planning and change-management processes

Assist with budget planning and monitor adherence to operational and capital spending targets

Track outstanding infrastructure issues and corrective actions

Support communication and response during facility-related incidents

Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation for urgent events
Working Environment
This role requires availability outside standard hours to respond to critical situations when necessary. Work is performed in a high-reliability environment with tight timelines and operational pressure. Physical tasks may include lifting equipment (up to approximately 40 lbs), working in confined spaces, and accessing elevated areas while following safety requirements.
Experience

Minimum five years working with mechanical and electrical building systems in a technical or industrial environment

Experience supporting facilities where uptime and reliability are essential

Experience guiding or coordinating others is considered an asset

Familiarity with chilled-water or closed-loop cooling systems is beneficial

Decision Authority & Impact
Acts as a technical resource for facility infrastructure. Authorized to make routine repair decisions within a limited spending threshold; larger or sensitive expenditures require leadership approval. Provides recommendations that influence operational reliability and maintenance planning.
Collaboration
Works closely with internal operations and engineering teams and coordinates regularly with external service providers and contractors.
Reporting Structure
Reports to the facility operations lead. This role does not include direct supervisory responsibility.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$80,000 and CA$105,000
