Job Title: Civil Design Engineer

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 3 days/week in office at Etobicoke location)

Reports To: Team Lead, Municipal Infrastructure


About the Role

We are seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join the municipal engineering team in Toronto. This role will focus on the detailed design and execution of large-scale civil infrastructure projects, including grading, drainage, roadworks, and site development packages.

The position offers a balance of technical design work, project team leadership, and client/stakeholder collaboration, providing exposure to high-profile transit and municipal infrastructure programs across Ontario.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed civil engineering designs, drawings, and analyses for infrastructure projects (earthworks, grading, roadworks, drainage).

  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, plans, profiles, cross-sections, and presentations for contract packages.

  • Lead project teams of engineers, interns, and CAD technicians in the design and delivery of civil works.

  • Manage project deliverables to ensure QA/QC, compliance, budget, and schedule adherence.

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary design teams, construction personnel, and stakeholders.

  • Present design solutions and project updates to authorities and clients.

  • Support proposal development, business development activities, and client-focused initiatives.

  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and staff.


Qualifications & Experience

Must-Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.

  • 8–10 years of demonstrated experience in civil engineering design and project delivery.

  • Expertise in stormwater drainage, site grading, earthworks, and general civil infrastructure.

  • Proficiency with design and project software including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRoads, and MS Project.

  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Prior experience on transit or transportation infrastructure projects.

  • Familiarity with municipal and provincial design standards across Ontario.

  • Proven client-facing and stakeholder engagement experience.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$120,000 and CA$145,000
