Overview
A leading organization in the power generation and nuclear sector is seeking a Nuclear Buyer to support the procurement of specialized equipment, materials, and services. This role manages the full procurement lifecycle — from sourcing and RFP creation to contract negotiation, vendor management, and PO closeout.
The successful candidate will ensure all procurement activities meet stringent nuclear quality and regulatory standards and align with project schedules within a high-performance engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Lifecycle

Execute full procurement process for nuclear-class items (RFP ? PO ? delivery ? closeout).

Source and evaluate suppliers for materials, equipment, and services.

Prepare RFPs, tender packages, and bid evaluations.

Review BOMs and determine technical and quality requirements.

Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
Quality & Compliance

Ensure procurement activities comply with CSA N286, N285, and/or N299 standards.

Work with quality inspectors on surveillance, inspection, and test plans.

Validate supplier QA documentation and certifications.

Maintain accurate and compliant procurement documentation.
Vendor & Stakeholder Engagement

Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships within the nuclear supply chain.

Monitor vendor performance, delivery, and quality issues.

Collaborate closely with Engineering, Project Management, Construction, QA, Accounting, and Estimating teams.
Reporting & Administration

Manage procurement reports, data tracking, and cost reviews.

Reconcile invoices related to purchased materials and equipment.

Support continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.

SCMP designation is an asset.
-
Ability to pass a security background check applicable to nuclear environments.
Experience
-
Up to 5 years of procurement experience in nuclear, EPC, industrial, or heavy construction projects.

Familiarity with nuclear-class procurement and quality frameworks is preferred.
Technical Skills
-
Strong understanding of CSA nuclear standards (N286 / N285 / N299).

Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook; experience with AS7/Passport or JD Edwards is an asset.

Solid contract administration and commercial acumen.
Work Environment

May involve occasional extended hours based on project schedules or outages.

Periodic visits to job sites or supplier facilities may be required.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$50.00 and CA$85.00
