Job Title:  Accounting Analyst III (Finance Advisor)
Location: North York, Ontario & Chatham, Ontario (hybrid 3 days a week Onsite)
Contract Duration: 1 year

Work Model: Hybrid (Mon, Tues, Thurs in office / Weds, Fri at home)

Job Summary:
High-Level Description

  • Perform complex accounting and accounting research analysis for Client finance group
  • Prepare reporting schedules to support quarterly / annual external financial filings and management reporting process for the General Accounting & Affiliates team
  • Prepare and support the creation of month end closing journal entries and monthly account reconciliations.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Assist with complex accounting and accounting research for EGI finance group and liaison with the various groups enterprise wide to resolve and communicate resolution
  • Assist with maintaining, updating, and documenting internal control policies and procedures within the Finance Department
  • Lead in identifying, resolving and escalating as needed any potential accounting issues to ensure timely resolution and accurate financial information in external filings
  • Assist with review of Contracts prior to execution, assessing accounting implications
  • Assist with month / quarter end close processes as needed
  • Synthesize complex accounting issues and be able to explain their impacts to management
  • Help identify and lead implementation for process improvements
  • Ongoing support of ad hoc request and special projects as needed
  • Ensure controls and processes are properly maintained and SOX compliance is achieved
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations
  • Liaise with internal/external auditors on SOX processes and controls
  • Ensure adherence to key and non-key SOX controls
  • Maintain a working knowledge of US GAAP

Scope/Dimensions

  • Responsible for identifying and helping to resolve any potential accounting issues to ensure timely resolution and accurate financial information in external filings
  • Deliver timely and accurate financial information and analysis to meet tight deadlines
  • Continuously look for process improvements to increase efficiencies
  • Ensure controls and processes are adhered to

Contacts (Working Relationships)

  • EGI Finance Department – work with various individuals within finance to obtain information that will assist in the preparation of reporting schedules, resolve accounting issues and prepare accounting memos
  • Business Development & Energy Services – collaborate on various topics
  • Corporate Financial Reporting Groups – collaborate on various topics and provide deliverables as needed
  • Accounting Research Expert Group – coordinate research items as needed

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Required: 

  • University degree in a business or accounting program
  • Possession of professional accounting designation (CPA) with 4+ years of directly related experience
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proven oral and written communication skills both to technical and non-technical stakeholders including being able to present to senior management
  • Proven interpersonal skills in dealing with and obtaining cooperation from others
  • High level of personal and professional integrity
  • Willing to work under pressure and some overtime to meet tight deadlines

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Oracle, SAP and Hyperion Smartview
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP
  • Experience in a Public Practice Accounting role
  • Experience in Technical Accounting/Accounting Research role
  • Experience in External Financial Reporting role

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$40.00 and CA$46.00
