Job Title: Project Engineer – Stations

Location: Burnaby, BC (Hybrid)

Our client is a leading energy utility that generates, purchases, distributes and sells electricity. They are currently looking for a  Project Engineer –  Stations  for their Burnaby location

Overview:

This position is for a Senior Project Engineer to work on Stations Projects in Transmission Stations Engineering.

Role Accountabilities:
 

  • Work closely with project managers to manage the scope, schedule, and cost of the project.
  •  Identify and manage the project technical risks, including system integration with the existing generation systems and other issues.
  • Collaborate with functional managers to establish the engineering teams on your projects.
  • You establish design and review plans, strategies, schedules, and resource requirements for the engineering work on your projects.
  • You coordinate and oversee the development of technical specifications and drawings and may manage engineering consultant's contracts.
  • Collaborate with Construction and Contract Management, the Engineering teams, Quality Management, and Field Operations to ensure that technical support is provided during manufacturing, construction and commissioning and that technical issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Make or review recommendations and other types of communications to management on complex project matters. This may include presenting to senior management and the executive.

Education and Skills:
 

  •  Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical is preferred), and registered, or eligible for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC).
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive and comprehensive engineering experience, with a primary focus in the design of hydroelectric power plants and/or dams and associated equipment. Engineering experience through the total project life cycle, from conceptual design through to testing and commissioning is considered an asset. Candidates with less experience may be considered at a corresponding position level.
  • A minimum of 4 years leading and coordinating multi-discipline design or engineering work on medium to large projects, preferably on projects similar in nature to client in terms of size, complexity, and stakeholders. Candidates with less experience may be considered at a corresponding position level.
  • Able to understand the impact of the project on the generation system and operations, and to understand the interactions and priorities required to deliver multi-discipline projects.
  • ·Excellent leadership and communication skills, including writing, are required in order to advance the project, including coordinating, and influencing various parties both within client and with external delivery partners and stakeholders.
  • ·Good understanding of Project Management processes.
  • Experience managing Owner’s reviews of multi-discipline engineering work being completed externally is an asset.
  • Site experience on large construction projects such as hydroelectric generation stations, dams, or transmission substations is an asset.

 

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between ¤87.00 and ¤117.50
