Job Title: Telecom Network Engineer
Location: Burnaby, BC (Hybrid)

Our client is a leading energy utility that generates, purchases, distributes and sells electricity. They are currently looking for a Telecommunications Network Engineer for their Burnaby location.
Overview:
Our client is looking for a Telecom Design Engineer who will performs on the system / facility design, solution and device test and standardization of telecommunications network focusing on IP/MPLS networks to support project / sustainment activities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide preliminary and detailed design packages for telecom projects involving microwave communication, channel banks, SONET multiplexer, teleprotection, fiber optic networks, C band/Ku band satellite, Tetra/VHF/UHF mobile radio, Power Line Carrier, -48 VDC Power systems, and IP/MPLS networks.
- Prepare technical specifications, test plans and commissioning documents for the installation of IP/MPLS routers and cards
- Design and Configure Nokia IP/MPLS and Cisco IP/Firewall routers and other related routers/switches, LTE CPEs. Setup Lab to execute IP/MPLS test plan
- Prepare IP/MPLS Test Report after lab or field testing to standardization of solutions or device introductions.
- Sustainment support IP/MPLS, and IP/Firewall networks
- Prepare project documentation and deliverables in accordance with client project and Engineering Design Practices (i.e. evaluation reports, specifications, proposals, estimates, design basis', calculations, hazard logs, test plans).
- Prepare design work packages including scope, duration, and level of effort estimates.
- Prepare signed/sealed engineering deliverables as a Professional of Record (PoR) in accordance with EGBC and client Design Practices.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering recognized by Canadian Universities. Preferred areas of study include power engineering, systems engineering, or control & communications engineering.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC). The individual shall be proficient with EGBC quality management guidelines, continuing education requirements and code of ethics.
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive and comprehensive engineering experience in telecom design
- Experience related to generator protection, control and associated systems, including practical and theoretical knowledge in protective relays, programmable logic controllers, excitation system, governor systems, and fault analysis / investigation.
- Knowledge of P&C testing and commissioning best practices, experience working in a field environment, and experience in fault analysis and investigations is required.
- Knowledge and familiarity with NERC PRC and MOD Standards (PRC-019, MOD-025/026/027) and experience working with ABB excitation systems is an asset.
- Demonstrated technical writing and presentation skills, and strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are required.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$79.00 and CA$98.00
