Civil Engineer

Your role within the team:

1. 1. Perform Static, Dynamic, SSI analysis, and structural design.
   2. Prepare engineering design calculations for structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete and masonry and prepare design documents and compile engineering packages.
   3. Analyze structural systems and elements as required using Analysis Software programs using ANSYS APDL, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, SSASI, LS-Dyna and other structural programs.
   4. Ensure Compliance with applicable Codes, Standards and Regulations, and ensuring the adequacy of design for permits and compliance with approved plans.
   5. Develop conceptual design, preliminary design and detailed design.
   6. Prepare technical specification documents.
   7. Accountable for the delivering all engineering deliverables/task to achieve project objectives within specified timelines and budgets.
   8. Provide technical instructions and mentoring to Junior staff or designers to develop engineering documentation.
   9. Review and comment on the work performed by the others to ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and design documentation.
   10. Check the work performed meets the quality requirements in accordance with Company QA programs and manuals.
   11. Participate in formal engineering design and other reviews as may be mandated for the design changes in question.
   12. Prepare Engineering estimate and technical write-up for proposals.
   13. Accountable for the delivering all engineering deliverables/task to achieve project objectives within specified timelines and budgets.
   14. Perform plant walkdowns as and if required in support of design requirements definition and detailed engineering of design modifications.

The ideal candidate:

1. Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
2. Minimum 5–10 years of relevant experience in structural analysis, structural integrity assessments, and support design for industrial facilities, including nuclear, oil & gas, mining, petrochemical, refinery, or other heavy industrial environments.
3. Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario
4. Strong practical experience with steel and reinforced concrete structures, including structural interactions, anchorage systems, baseplates, and support design.
5. Experience performing structural assessments, design modifications, field walkdowns, and validation of existing conditions against design documentation.
6. Working knowledge of Canadian structural and nuclear codes and standards, including CSA N287 series, CSA A23.3, CSA S16, NBCC, and related industry standards.
7. Hands-on experience using structural analysis software such as GT STRUDL, STAAD Pro, SAP2000, ANSYS, SSASI, or similar tools.
8. Familiarity with static and structural analysis methodologies for industrial structures and foundations. Seismic and dynamic analysis experience is considered an asset.
9. Experience supporting EPC and/or EPCM projects within complex industrial environments.
10. Previous nuclear or CANDU experience is preferred; however, candidates with strong heavy industrial experience will also be considered.
11. Practical field and site experience within operating industrial or power generation facilities is considered an asset.
12. Familiarity with nuclear QA programs, engineering procedures, and design change processes is an asset.
13. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with clients, site teams, and multidisciplinary engineering groups.
14. Self-motivated and adaptable with the ability to work effectively in fast-paced project environments.
