Civil Engineer

Your role within the team:

- Perform Static, Dynamic, SSI analysis, and structural design.
- Prepare engineering design calculations for structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete and masonry and prepare design documents and compile engineering packages.
- Analyze structural systems and elements as required using Analysis Software programs using ANSYS APDL, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, SSASI, LS-Dyna and other structural programs.
- Ensure Compliance with applicable Codes, Standards and Regulations, and ensuring the adequacy of design for permits and compliance with approved plans.
- Develop conceptual design, preliminary design and detailed design.
- Prepare technical specification documents.
- Accountable for the delivering all engineering deliverables/task to achieve project objectives within specified timelines and budgets.
- Provide technical instructions and mentoring to Junior staff or designers to develop engineering documentation.
- Review and comment on the work performed by the others to ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and design documentation.
- Check the work performed meets the quality requirements in accordance with Company QA programs and manuals.
- Participate in formal engineering design and other reviews as may be mandated for the design changes in question.
- Prepare Engineering estimate and technical write-up for proposals.
- Accountable for the delivering all engineering deliverables/task to achieve project objectives within specified timelines and budgets.
- Perform plant walkdowns as and if required in support of design requirements definition and detailed engineering of design modifications.
The ideal candidate:
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
- Minimum 5–10 years of relevant experience in structural analysis, structural integrity assessments, and support design for industrial facilities, including nuclear, oil & gas, mining, petrochemical, refinery, or other heavy industrial environments.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario
- Strong practical experience with steel and reinforced concrete structures, including structural interactions, anchorage systems, baseplates, and support design.
- Experience performing structural assessments, design modifications, field walkdowns, and validation of existing conditions against design documentation.
- Working knowledge of Canadian structural and nuclear codes and standards, including CSA N287 series, CSA A23.3, CSA S16, NBCC, and related industry standards.
- Hands-on experience using structural analysis software such as GT STRUDL, STAAD Pro, SAP2000, ANSYS, SSASI, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with static and structural analysis methodologies for industrial structures and foundations. Seismic and dynamic analysis experience is considered an asset.
- Experience supporting EPC and/or EPCM projects within complex industrial environments.
- Previous nuclear or CANDU experience is preferred; however, candidates with strong heavy industrial experience will also be considered.
- Practical field and site experience within operating industrial or power generation facilities is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with nuclear QA programs, engineering procedures, and design change processes is an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with clients, site teams, and multidisciplinary engineering groups.
- Self-motivated and adaptable with the ability to work effectively in fast-paced project environments.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$65.00 and CA$90.00
