Job Title: SCADA Engineer
Location: Burnaby, BC (Hybrid)
Estimated Duration: 12 Months
Our client is a leading energy utility that generates, purchases, distributes and sells electricity. They are currently looking for a SCADA Engineer for their Burnaby location.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare project documentation and deliverables in accordance with client project and Engineering Design Practices (i.e. evaluation reports, specifications, proposals, estimates, design basis', calculations, hazard logs, test plans).
- Prepare design work packages including scope, duration, and level of effort estimates.
- Prepare signed/sealed engineering deliverables as a Professional of Record (PoR) in accordance with EGBC and client Design Practices.
- Provide technical assistance and construction support in the field, and undertake field reviews as required by EGBC.
- Prepare detailed SCADA design packages, device point assignments, and configurations.
- Configuring/program RTUs, gateway devices, user interfaces, network switches/routers, and other IEDs related to the SCADA systems.
- Specify and procure materials, panel assemblies and other related equipment.
- Test and validate device configurations in a lab environment.
- Prepare and execute pre-commissioning test plans for SCADA systems.
- Provide technical guidance and support throughout the design process (cross-discipline integration, factory testing, installation, commissioning).
- Provide training for end-users and peers on the theory and operational use of the installed or modified equipment/systems.
Education:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering from an institute accredited by the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC).
- P.Eng
- A minimum of 8 years of related work experience in automation or control systems .
- Experience with utility-based Ethernet control networks, configuration and testing of remote control equipment, PLC programming, troubleshooting methodologies, and LAN/WAN technologies focused on utility solutions is required.
- Experience with DNP3, networking protocols, Cyber Security and delivering M2M networking applications is considered an asset.
- Experience with programming of GE Remote Terminal Units is considered an asset
- Knowledge of NERC standards is considered an asset
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$56.00 and CA$69.50
