Project Planner
Our client is looking for an experienced Project Planner to join their team within the nuclear energy sector. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical infrastructure projects where precision, safety, and disciplined project controls are paramount.
About the Role
The Project Planner provides planning, scheduling, cost, and project management support across projects, programs, and divisions. The role is accountable for developing, maintaining, and analyzing integrated project schedules and cost controls to ensure projects adhere to approved processes, standards, and governance requirements.
The Project Planner works closely with Project Managers, stakeholders, contractors, and internal teams to support successful project execution, informed decision-making, and continuous improvement in project management practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and analyze integrated project and program schedules covering engineering, procurement, construction, installation, modification, and commissioning activities.
- Perform critical path analysis, schedule risk analysis, and scenario evaluations; recommend corrective actions where variances from baseline occur.
- Support estimating, sanction support, and scheme paper preparation, including cost/benefit analysis, variance analysis, and risk documentation.
- Facilitate development of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), project execution plans, milestones, and resource forecasts in collaboration with project stakeholders.
- Produce and maintain project baselines, forecasts, look-ahead schedules, actuals tracking, and performance reports (e.g., schedule variance, cost variance, CPI/SPI, earned value).
- Monitor field progress and contractor performance; analyze deviations and support resolution of planning, scheduling, and cost control issues.
- Support project change control processes, including impact assessments and integration of approved changes into project plans.
- Ensure planning and control documentation complies with corporate standards, project management principles, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Provide planning and project management expertise, coaching, and guidance to project teams and stakeholders; promote consistent application of project management standards and best practices.
- Coordinate activities across internal teams, consultants, and contractors to support integrated project delivery and milestone achievement.
- Support month-end close, phase-gate reviews, business planning submissions, and strategic resource planning activities.
Skills & Qualifications
- Project planning, scheduling, and cost control experience on multi-disciplinary engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of critical path method (CPM), schedule quality analysis, and schedule risk assessment (deterministic and probabilistic techniques).
- Strong analytical skills, including financial analysis, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Proficiency with computer-based project management, scheduling, and reporting tools (integrated cost and schedule systems).
- Ability to facilitate workshops and planning sessions (e.g., WBS development, planning reviews).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare reports and present recommendations to management.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and coordination skills across internal teams and external partners.
- Sound understanding of project management principles (e.g., PMBOK), change control, and governance frameworks.
Education & Experience
- Post-secondary education in engineering, construction management, project management, business, or a related discipline — or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible experience in project planning, scheduling, cost control, or project management support roles.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of project management standards, tools, and processes applied in a complex project environment.
- Completion of formal project management training or equivalent applied experience is expected; advanced roles may require demonstrated leadership in applying and promoting project management best practices.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$75.00 and CA$85.00
