Your role
- Lead the full design lifecycle from concept through detailed design for civil and structural systems, ensuring systems meet functional, performance, environmental, and seismic qualification requirements.
- Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team of civil/structural engineers, technical specialists, designers, and technologists/technicians.
- Oversee engineering activities that require close coordination with interfacing disciplines (e.g., Mechanical, Human Factors, Procurement, Quality).
- Plan and execute engineering work to meet quality, cost, and schedule targets, ensuring deliverables comply with contracts, specifications, technical requirements, and QA procedures.
- Direct and support civil engineering activities required to complete fundamental nuclear plant design, while preparing and approving technical content for proposals and commercial submissions.
- Identify and remove barriers affecting safety, quality, cost, or schedule; manage resource forecasting, including required skills, team capacity, and duration of work scopes.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) and registered Professional Engineer in
Ontario, with 10+ years of engineering project experience and 5+ years leading teams. - Background supporting engineering services, refurbishments, EPC projects, and large concept-to-implementation programs; experience with new-build projects and CANDU/nuclear technology modifications is an asset.
- Experience liaising with regulatory bodies such as CNSC and TSSA, including preparation of correspondence, registration packages, reconciliation packages, and code classifications.
- Strong leadership in dynamic environments, with demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary technical staff and deliver practical, effective civil/structural engineering solutions.
- Solid working knowledge of nuclear codes and standards (CSA N286, CSA N285.0, CSA N289, ASME BPVC Section III Div. 1, ASME B31.1) and civil/structural standards including CSA and NBCC.
- Ability to travel to project sites and suppliers as required; eligible to obtain federal security clearance and comfortable working in regulated nuclear project environments.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$155,000 and CA$194,000
