Electrical I&C Engineer
Contract (12 months)
Mississauga, Ontario (3 days on-site)
Roles and Responsibilities
- Work independently or under the direction/guidance of a Senior Engineer or Technical Lead.
- Contribute to the design and development of I&C systems for new designs and/or enhancements to CANDU Retube Waste Handling and Vacuum Drying Equipment.
- Perform conceptual and detailed design of instrumentation and control systems, including defining system functional and performance requirements, control algorithms, logic, wiring arrangements, control parameters, setpoints, and instrument ranges.
- Conduct specification, sizing, and selection of I&C components and prepare related documentation (e.g., assessment documents, setpoint calculations, error analyses).
- Update and/or prepare design documents (Design Calculations, Design Requirements, Elementary/Wiring Diagrams, Bills of Materials, Technical Specifications).
- Prepare and/or review Purchase Requisitions and Tender Technical Evaluations.
- Review and provide comments on supplier Manufacturing, Inspection and Test Plans (MITPs), Engineering Drawings, and other Design Basis documentation.
- Respond to supplier manufacturing questions or issues/NCRs.
- Interface with internal engineering disciplines, support services, and external suppliers.
- Manage assigned work effectively, including prioritizing, executing, and reporting to meet project goals.
- Travel may be required to various locations in China, Canada, or other countries where manufacturing activities occur.
Requirements and Experience
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
- Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- 6–10 years of experience in electrical design/analysis, preferably involving CANDU nuclear reactor components or refurbishment equipment.
- Experience working to nuclear-grade procedures and practices (asset).
- Experience producing electrical engineering drawings (any relevant industry).
- Experience performing I&C design analyses and calculations (any relevant industry).
- Experience supporting manufacturing/fabrication activities (e.g., troubleshooting, non-conformance disposition, design changes/deviations).
- Working knowledge of nuclear Codes and Standards (IEEE, ASME B31.1, CSA C22.1, CSA B51, CSA N286, CSA N299) is an asset.
- Familiarity with I&C systems used in CANDU process, safety, or safety-related systems—or similar systems in other industries—is an asset.
- Strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$60.00 and CA$75.00
