Job Title: Electrical Commissioning Engineer – Site C

Location: Fort St John, BC (Hybrid)

Estimated Duration: 6 Months

Our client is a leading energy utility that generates, purchases, distributes and sells electricity. They are currently looking for a  Commissioning Engineer for their Fort St John location.

Overview:

The  Commissioning Engineer is a professional engineer who applies engineering knowledge to provide engineering, estimating, planning, and quality management services for medium complexity projects and/or operations safely, with quality, within budget, and on time.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect the equipment, facilities and any other aspect of an engineering project to ensure that it has been designed and installed correctly.
  • Frequently create reports, assist with technical issues, conduct testing procedures and oversee the entire life cycle of the project.
  • Provide engineering and technical support to projects to ensure that it is completed within regulation within the budget.
  • Coordinating commissioning visits with a range of clients
  • Reviewing the technical documentation of existing client systems and machinery to understand their functions and purpose
  • Liaising and collaborating with construction firms to ensure safety and quality regulations are being met
  • Visiting different remote client sites to oversee the testing of equipment
  • Conduct equipment checks and system tests in the field to ensure correct operation
  • Review test results and prepare test reports to confirm compliance with technical specifications
  • Work with engineering and operating groups to carry out tests and repairs

Education and Skills
 

  • University graduate in applied science or engineering – Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 8 years of electrical or instrumentation engineering experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or with another jurisdiction and eligible for registration as such with Engineers & Geoscientists BC
  • Protection & Control or Instrumentation Design and/or Testing experience is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with CAD systems and drawing standards
  • Ability to use standard industry design/analysis software
  • Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Intermediate English skills for professional environment, written and spoken
     

 

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$85.00 and CA$105.00
