Senior Electrical Engineer
Contract (12 months)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The qualified individual will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
 

    • Perform engineering work following our clients procedures and QA programs, and applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Coordinate and interface with client(s), suppliers, stakeholders and other design disciplines to execute assigned engineering work.
    • Prepare technical documents, such as: engineering drawings (including GAs, DDs, EDs), change paper markups, calculations, design/analysis reports, design requirements, design manuals, bill of materials, design specifications, technical specifications, component specification sheets, commissioning specifications, etc.
    • Participate in review of interfacing discipline’s documentation.
    • Prepare requisitions or Engineering Quotation Requests (EQR) for equipment and materials to support procurement.
    • Interface and provide technical guidance and instruction to Designers/Drafters.
    • Prepare scope of work and input to bid proposals.
    • Perform field walk-downs during different design phases and prepare Walkdown reports as required.
    • Lead field construction and execution activities, such as: field changes, design revisions, commissioning, AFS, closeout, etc.
    • Complete the assigned scopes or tasks within given budget and schedule, and in good quality.
    • Provide prompt response and engineering resolutions on any critical engineering related matters.
       

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
 

    • Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent degree as recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
    • Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
    • Minimum 10 years of relevant design implementation/construction support experience (experience with green field construction and/or nuclear industry are assets).
    • Experience with medium voltage and low voltage power distribution systems, including preparation of Single Line diagrams, Elementary Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Cable Block Diagrams and schedules, and calculation of power demand/ electrical load lists.
    • Experience with transformer sizing, cable sizing, circuit breaker sizing calculations.
    • Experience in modelling electrical power systems and use of analysis functions in ETAP, or other similar software program is an asset.
    • Site experience in construction, or commissioning of electrical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries would be an asset.
    • Working knowledge of construction work planning and field execution.
    • Good working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, such as of CSA 22.1, Canadian Electrical Code Part I and The Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC).
    • Shall have fundamental technical knowledge to resolve engineering issues or technical problems.
    • Familiar with specifying and procurement support for electrical equipment such as Transformers, MCCs, low voltage distribution load centers, UPS systems including rectifiers and inverters and Diesel Generators (emergency and standby), power and control and instrumentation cables.
    • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
    • Shall have excellent communication and technical writing skills and good ability to interact and communicate (both verbal and in writing) professionally with colleagues, clients and contractors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Preferably PG4 level Senior Electrical Engineer (P. Eng) who has strong Nuclear experience, specifically with CANDU Electrical Power Systems.
    • Will prepare/review electrical design documents such as drawings (GAs, DDs, EDs, Wiring Diagrams) and non-drawings.
    • Coordinate Vendor Data, review shop drawings, test plans, test reports for major equipment such as Emergency Power System (EPS) Diesel Generators and UPS power system.
    • Be familiar with Nuclear specific aspects related to Electrical equipment such as Seismic Qualification (SQ), Environmental Qualification (EQ) etc.

 

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$70.00 and CA$90.00
