Job Description:
Our client is a leader in the responsible development and reliable and safe operation of North American energy infrastructure. They are one of the continent’s largest providers of gas storage and related services.
 
They are currently looking for an IT Project Manager (Specialist) for their Calgary, AB location.
 
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the full project lifecycle for data governance and AI initiatives—from initial conception, requirements definition, and stakeholder engagement through implementation, production release, and project closure.
• Direct the management of production releases and system deployments for advanced data platforms and AI tools, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption to business operations.
• Monitor and enforce strict adherence to change management protocols and established PMO standards.
• Deliver assigned projects within agreed timeframes, budget constraints, and defined scope parameters, consistently meeting and exceeding expectations for excellence.
• Design, implement, and continually refine enterprise data governance and AI frameworks, policies, and procedures to safeguard data quality and enable trustworthy AI.
• Coordinate data quality initiatives.
• Manage complex projects involving data classification, lineage mapping, and metadata management to ensure transparency and traceability across the clients data landscape.
• Ensure rigorous compliance with data privacy regulations, industry standards, and internal governance requirements throughout all project phases.
• Lead artificial intelligence and machine learning project implementations, guiding teams through requirements gathering, model development, validation, and deployment.
• Coordinate cross-functional integration of AI solutions within existing enterprise systems, ensuring business needs are translated into robust, actionable technical specifications.
• Oversee initiatives focused on responsible AI governance, including ethics, bias mitigation, and regulatory compliance for machine learning models and automated decision systems.
• Present project status, key milestones, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations to steering committees and senior management, facilitating informed decision-making.
• Coordinate with Technical, Business, Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams, as well as external vendors and regulatory bodies, to ensure all requirements and deliverables are met.
• Manage relationships with internal customers across all business units and with technology partners, fostering collaboration and stakeholder satisfaction.
• Facilitate training sessions and change management activities for new data governance and AI-powered business capabilities, ensuring smooth adoption and sustained business impact.
• Assess and allocate required technical resources in line with project needs, project charters, and business priorities.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks unique to data governance and AI projects, including data privacy, regulatory non-compliance, organizational change and technology integration challenges.
• Coordinate with Cybersecurity Architecture teams to conduct security assessments and address vulnerabilities in enterprise data and AI platforms.
• Oversee budget planning, forecasting, and expenditure tracking, ensuring optimal use of resources and transparency in financial reporting.
• Delivery Excellence: Projects delivered on-time, on-budget, and in full alignment with defined scope and business objectives.
• Quality Standards: Adherence to all PMO deliverables, data governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Scope Management: Successful fulfillment of project charter documentation and business case value drivers.
• Stakeholder Satisfaction: Positive feedback and adoption rates from business users, technical teams, and executive stakeholders.
• Data Quality Improvements: Measurable enhancements in data accuracy, accessibility, and utility across business units.
• AI Implementation Success: Successful deployment, integration, and user adoption of AI solutions, delivering tangible business value and operational efficiencies.
• Accountable for project scope decisions relating to data governance and AI solution delivery.
• Authority to escalate unresolved issues to Asset and Delivery Managers for approval.
• Empowered to allocate resources, adjust timelines, and request additional support as defined by the project charter and PMO processes.
• Ability to veto requirements or deployments that conflict with established data governance policies, regulatory compliance, or risk thresholds.
 
 
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Business, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline); PMP certification strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of hands-on project management experience, ideally focused on data governance, AI, or enterprise technology initiatives.
• Demonstrated expertise in data governance principles, frameworks, and regulatory requirements (including privacy, compliance, and auditability).
• Proven track record of successful AI project implementations and data analytics initiatives within a complex business environment.
• Working knowledge of the energy sector, including industry-specific data regulations and operational best practices.
• Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable business value.
• Proficiency in modern project management tools, methodologies, and best practices.
 

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$95.00 and CA$110.00
