Job Title: Electrical Engineer / Power Systems Engineer

About the Role
A leading industrial engineering firm is seeking an Electrical Engineer (Power Systems) to join its Sarnia-based team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and analyzing power distribution systems, automation, and protection schemes for large-scale industrial facilities.
You’ll be working across sectors including oil & gas, petrochemicals, power generation, and heavy manufacturing, contributing to projects that enhance safety, reliability, and performance of electrical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities

Lead electrical design efforts for power distribution and automation projects.

Perform power system analysis (load flow, short circuit, protection coordination) using ETAP, SKM, or similar tools.

Design and review electrical drawings in compliance with Ontario Electrical Safety Code and CSA standards.

Develop protection systems for medium and high voltage equipment.

Support commissioning and troubleshooting in the field.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to ensure project quality and timelines.

Contribute to electrical reliability and optimization initiatives.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

5+ years of experience in power systems design for industrial environments.

P.Eng. designation (or eligibility for registration in Ontario).

Proficiency with ETAP/SKM and working knowledge of industrial standards (CSA Z462, NETA ATS/MTS).

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Nice to Have
-
Experience with industrial automation and PLC programming.

Familiarity with AutoCAD, SEL software, or other electrical design tools.

Exposure to field commissioning and reliability testing.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$75,000 and CA$140,000
