Job Title: Mechanical Discipline Lead
Location: Pickering, ON (Hybrid)
Estimated Duration: 12 Months
This full-time leadership opportunity offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of clean energy solutions. You'll join a forward-thinking team and apply your engineering expertise to positively impact customers and the broader energy landscape. Based in Pickering, Ontario (with flexibility for remote arrangements), this position is part of the Installed Base Business Unit.
Key Responsibilities Include:

Lead the design and implementation of engineering change initiatives related to the boiler replacement at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station.

Act as the technical liaison with clients and partner organizations, ensuring proposed solutions align with operational and regulatory requirements.

Guide and support the Canadian Steam Generating Team’s design group in addressing complex technical challenges that sustain safe, clean, and reliable energy for Ontario.

Provide expert oversight of technical documentation and deliverables across all project phases—including design, build, testing, commissioning, operational support, and decommissioning.

Troubleshoot and resolve engineering challenges during the design, installation, and commissioning stages.

Manage team resources, delegate tasks effectively, and contribute to proposal development and cost estimation processes.

Monitor team performance in terms of project timelines and budgetary goals.

Foster an environment of ongoing improvement and knowledge-sharing within the team.

Possess familiarity with Ontario Power Generation’s operational procedures, tools, and standards.
- Process Piping Design, including Valves, Pumps, and Heat Exchangers
- Fluid Dynamics, including steady state and dynamic flow analyses
- Machine Design, Solid Mechanics, and Failure Theory, including piping stress analysis and FEA
Desirable Qualifications and Background:

Prior involvement in design or EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects with OPG—either in a project leadership or technical role—is considered a strong asset.

In-depth understanding of nuclear engineering design practices, regulatory compliance, and applicable industry codes.

Proven agility in handling evolving project needs and working across interdisciplinary teams.

Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities with a track record of delivering results efficiently.

Experience coaching and mentoring peers, with the ability to build strong working relationships both internally and externally.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$80.00 and CA$110.00
