Senior Systems Engineer
Contract

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Commissioning Procedures developed in accordance with CNL procedure.
- Ensures all system, structure and component redundancy are subjected to the same testing as the original equipment unless otherwise agreed to by CNL Design Authority.
- Develop the Commissioning Test Results (CTR) records per CNL’s Standard: Commissioning Quality Assurance Requirements for Technical Scope of Work Documents.
- For each commissioned system, equipment, or component, prepare a Commissioning Report to be produced in accordance with CNL’s procedure and as identified in the Project level Commissioning Plan.
- Function as a System Engineer and SME for a respective SBWRP System
- Perform engineering analysis, identify problems and propose operational solutions to tasks that are partially defined and moderately complex in nature, requiring knowledge and experience within given disciplines.
- Responsible to observe and participate in the final equipment design, fabrication, testing, and operation at Cambridge site.
- Responsible to develop commissioning plans for offsite and onsite commissioning and set up once on the WL site. Ensure proper controls in place and document supporting evaluations and analyses.
- Responsible to provide technical input to the development and performance of operator training. Must be also fully qualified to operate the respective system, if needed.
- Responsible to observe the equipment operation to ensure design parameters are maintained.
- Responsible to provide technical guidance (work instructions & packages, procedures, and other needed documents) and oversight for any and all maintenance and repairs made to the system during operation.
- Review RFI (Request for Information) and response to the RFI.
- Function as a WL Engineering Representative while at the fabrication facilities.
- Responsible to report on design related issues, as well as design and fabrication issues that require resolution.
- Responsible to document progress to the SBWRP Management team on general status, issues, resolutions, and other required items throughout the fabrication process.
- Any other work assigned by Engineering Manger related to the project.
- Must be able to help other Engineers and Supervisor on the project as needed and directed by Engineering Manager.
RELATIONSHIPS (INTERNAL & EXTERNAL):
Internal Relationships
The SBWRP SE must be able to work in a team environment with the WL project staff as well as other various WL site departments as well as offsite fabrication representative and others.
External Relationships
The SBWRP SE should have industry experience and contacts so that in the event of additional resources, the SBWRP SE can provide references.
LEVEL OF DECISION MAKING:
Financial Decision Making - Identify, define and direct approach for successful resolution of significant technical issues.
- The SBWRP SE will be required to maintain awareness of design, fabrication, testing and operational issues and report any related issues to the SBWRP SE Section Head. Strategic Decision Making
- Provide specific engineering discipline expert knowledge to peers, vendors and customers.
- May be required to act as lead technical problem solver within are of specialization.
- The SBWRP SE will be required to maintain a “big picture” of their respective system during all aspects of the final design, fabrication, commissioning, testing, and operations of the SBWRP. All major project decisions will be reported to the SBWRP SE Section head and made by the Sr. Project Manager of Engineering, and the SBWRP Project Manager.
PROBLEM SOLVING:
The SBWRP SE is expected to recognize and work through any problems related to their respective system. The SE will be integrated into the entire SBWRP team and work with various other project groups to work through and solve problems as they arise.LEADERSHIP OF SELF AND
Working Environment - Must be able to pass required security screening requirements.
- Must have a valid driver’s licence, and passport.
- Must be able to travel locally with in Canada or internationally (USA), via air and car for extended periods of time due to the various locations of the facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education - The SE is required to have an Engineering Degree (Canada or US) ideally with an Engineering license (Canada or US). Experience
- The SE is required to have a minimum 12 years with 5- years’ experience in the nuclear decommissioning area, experience in commercial nuclear power plants or large industry where specialized equipment is in use.
- The SE is required to have previous mechanical equipment design and/or fabrication experience.
- The SE is preferred to have previous experience with radioactive waste handling equipment, and remote operated equipment.
- It is preferred that the SE have previous start up engineering experience. Abilities and Skills
- The SE will serve as the Work Planner, Operational Procedures and Maintenance SME for their respective SBWRP System.
- The SE should be proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- The SE must be able to articulate design parameters into operational procedures, and provide operational oversight to ensure equipment is operated and maintained within those parameters. Job/Industry Specific Knowledge
Practical and some fundamental knowledge of engineering application to robotic and automation systems, and techniques and applications in field of nuclear material management. Knowledge of Canadian regulation and standards and First of a Kind Equipment (FOAKE) applications preferred.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$70.00 and CA$100.00
