What You'll Do Here

Work collaboratively in a team environment, providing support to other estimators and managers in the department

Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Develop strategies and scope breakdown structures to support the estimate development process

Partner with the Proposal/Bid Manager throughout the entire proposal cycle

Participate in and understand both design/build and build-to-spec contract structures
-
Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, lists, and other technical documentation
-
Conceptualize construction plans and methodologies that outline how to construct and install mechanical equipment and systems

Prepare sketches, drawings, and specifications that support the estimating process
-
Compile and manage RFIs during and after document reviews

Perform accurate quantity take-offs and prepare detailed estimates in line with company policies and estimating procedures

Utilize construction estimating software to compile detailed estimate information
-
Prepare estimates including labour hours/headcounts, material costs, tools and equipment costs, and schedule durations; compile bid packages for subcontractors and suppliers

Analyze sub-trade quotations and liaise with subcontractors to clarify issues as needed

Attend estimate kick-off and approval meetings with management to review details, assumptions, and risk factors

Determine estimated construction durations to support forecasting and scheduling

Participate in walkdowns and site visits to confirm project scope

Manage time effectively to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work
What You Bring to the Team
-
Minimum 5 years of estimating experience within the industrial construction industry on large capital projects
-
Construction Engineering Technologist Diploma, Trade Certification, Gold Seal Certificate (Estimating), or equivalent experience
-
Experience with Ineight Estimate software preferred; knowledge of additional estimating and take-off programs (Excel, OST Pro, Bluebeam, etc.) is an asset

Strong estimating background, ideally with experience in nuclear construction and maintenance projects

Exceptional organizational and time management skills

Strong oral and written communication skills

Demonstrated ability to apply sound judgment, focus, creativity, and leadership qualities

Solid understanding of subcontracting processes

Knowledge of unionized trade agreements

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, and multi-disciplinary team environment
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$120,000 and CA$130,000
